Matthew Thompson is a writer and adventurer who has covered such topics as nudist colonies, women’s boxing, professional pool hustling, drag racing, French dining in Tokyo, and war. He has explored the Muslim insurgencies of the southern Philippines, drinking coffee with Abu Sayyaf bomb-makers and eating raw goat with their foes in the Marines.

He was born in the USA but lives in Australia, where he was awarded the University Medal in literature at Newcastle University before working as a reporter at the Sydney Morning Herald. He writes for a range of magazines and newspapers, has a broken nose and a volatile little dog named Noodles.
